Main-group metalated heterocycles through Lewis acid cyclization

Main-group metalated heterocycles have broad applications in synthesis, drug development, and materials science. In this review, we highlight recent progress synthesizing isolable main-group of boron, indium, silicon, tin, selenium, tellurium via Lewis acid cyclization pathways discuss mechanistic insights. Different from traditional two-step synthetic routes which are constructed first followed by metalation, the herein-described reactions construct heterocyclic core install metal one step. These proceed with predictable regioselectivity high functional group tolerance. While all described onto carbon–carbon π bonds, studies show that different metals/reagents can through intermediates.
